-9 days to go...
Well, I was definitely disappointed when the official due date (Oct. 29) came and went and no sign of little Chloe! I've discovered that I can make it through anything (like long college semesters) as long as there is a definite end that I can look forward to. So when my "end" passed by...it was VERY difficult to accept. But, I have had a LOT to keep me busy since then.
Two weeks ago David and I were blessed with an offer to move into a large house rent-free in return for keeping up with the place! So instead of having our tiny, 2-room apartment to bring our daughter home to, we will be able to take her home to a 3-bedroom, 2-bath, 2 living room, formal dining room, breakfast nook, kitchen, and 2-car garage HOUSE...where Chloe can have a room of her OWN! :-D
It's been a CRAZY last 2 weeks trying to get everything ready to live in and bring Chloe home to. But on top of being blessed with the house itself (on 4 acres by the way!) we are SUPER BLESSED by a wonderful family and great friends!! So many people chipped in that first week to help us paint, clean, move, organize, etc. etc. Our original goal was to get moved in by Thanksgiving, but after finding out about the house on Oct. 23rd, we ended up sleeping there our first night Oct. 30th. VERY fast!! But it's been amazing! My sisters have been over almost every single day - just painting, painting, painting. Moving through one room at a time, patching any little problems in the walls and covering up the yucky old paint with beautiful colors! :-) I have my own personal paint crew!!
The two coolest upgrades (to me) in this new house of ours is we have a DISHWASHER and a WASHING MACHINE!!!!! :-D I'm SUPER EXCITED about those things!
So on Friday (Nov. 5) we had our last Dr's appointment. I was 41 weeks along at that point. Our doctor said that she would let us go as late as Monday (Nov. 8) before inducing. I really didn't want to be induced - I wanted Chloe to come whenever she and God decided she was ready. But since Monday was as late as I could go, we scheduled the induction for Monday (TOMORROW!!!!). I've been trying to eat different things and walk a lot and do things that will help induce labor naturally...but it just hasn't happened yet. I even spent yesterday afternoon playing tag football and chased a 2-year-old at full speed across a parking lot today! Still, nothing. So, tomorrow, bright and early at 6am, David and I are heading to the hospital to start the process of having our daughter!!! (And as much as I didn't want to induce, the anxiety of waiting is now gone and I'm SO excited for tomorrow!)
All that to say,
MY DAUGHTER IS COMING TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!

Day 245
ONLY 21 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!

Alright everyone, today I've reached 37 weeks of pregnancy! Do you know what that means?! At 37 weeks and beyond the baby is considered "full-term"! So if Chloe came any time now, she should be completely capable of surviving normally! :-D Plus, that means ONLY 3 WEEKS (or 21 DAYS) LEFT!!!!!!!
We are now at the point where we have a doctor's appointment every week. Three weeks ago I found out that I'd gained 5lbs in 13 days and thought, "HOLY COW!!!" But the past two weeks I've lost 2lbs. Dr. Goss said this is fine because a lot of times near the very end of pregnancy, the mother's stomach is so small it's hard for her to eat normally, and then there is a lot of nauseousness in some women (like me). So the 2lbs is no big deal.
However, Chloe should be weighing about 6lbs now! :-) And she is probably around 19 in. long! Wow! It's so cool to be able to feel her move. I can feel pretty much her entire body through my belly and get a basic idea of how big she is. It's so strange, but really amazing!
On Wednesday (Oct. 6th) I had my last doctor's appointment. Each visit the doctor will take a measuring tape and measure the distance from the bottom to the top of my uterus. The number of centimeters in length is supposed to equal the number of weeks of pregnancy. On Wednesday I was 36 weeks, 5 days. So I should have measured almost 37 cm from bottom to top. I measured 38 cm! I've been measuring exactly perfect every other visit until now. Dr. Goss was impressed by Chloe's growth spurt! I also got my first cervical exam. :-/ The good and EXCITING news is that I'm already dilated to 1 cm!!! Now I do realize that a person can stay dilated to the same size for a long time and that it doesn't necessarily mean much; but I was so excited just to have SOME progress!!! Especially after Dr. Goss told me not to be surprised if I wasn't dilated at all yet - most women aren't; at least not on their first pregnancy. So, maybe I won't make it to Oct. 29th after all... who knows?! :-D Chloe's heart is doing great also - her HR was 133-150 on Wednesday (perfect)!
David and I are much more prepared for Chloe to come now! For awhile I just had ZERO energy and the house was not ready at all. But I've gained a little more energy lately and David and I have been able to organize and put our house together to accommodate our little baby! The crib is completely assembled and ready to go! The changing table is assembled along with the rocker. (Thank you, Kyle Fire Dept!)
I even have all of her clothes that she will be wearing at first, washed and organized. :-) I can't wait to dress her in them!!
David even finished out our bathroom with new flooring and moved out the not-used tub so that we would have room to put the changing table in there!
My sisters threw an AMAZING baby shower for Chloe and I a few weekends ago! Everything was so perfect and beautiful! Over 60 people were there!! So it was definitely an energy-zapper for them and my parents! But it was so wonderful and such a great memory! My dad and David were great sports and kept everything pretty cleaned up throughout the morning so that the clean up didn't take so long afterwards! I'm so glad so many people were able to attend! It was a lot of fun! I was thinking about it, and besides my mom's baby shower for my youngest sister about 11 years ago, I don't think I've ever been to another baby shower but my own. *surprised* I have to say, AWESOME first experience!! ;-)
We do have one more shower: one the church is throwing for us tomorrow. So I should be able to come home and get everything completely put together after that! I am still struggling with some fatigue but it's not nearly as bad as a few weeks ago! And thanks to my WONDERFUL sister-in-law, the unmanageable mess that was my house is now very much picked up and manageable again! :-D
I hadn't really had any episodes of Braxton Hicks contractions (false contractions) until last Saturday. I've had several since then...a few almost every day. But it's just my body getting ready. And they really aren't too bad. Just make me stop and hold my breath for a second. I've been a little worried that I won't be able to tell when I actually go into labor, but I'm thinking I'll be OK in feeling the difference. I've asked lots of people and read up on the internet so...we'll see.
Sleeping is getting harder and harder. It's VERY difficult to find any comfortable position, and even when I finally do, it's only comfortable for about 3-5 minutes. Poor David probably isn't sleeping well at all with me moving around so much! :-/ And of course I don't sleep as well either. But I guess it'll make adjusting to the baby's lack-of-sleep schedule a little easier. ;-P
David is so cute! (He probably won't appreciate me saying that on here...) But he's definitely getting excited!! He's already figured out the approximate number of shifts he still has to work before Chloe gets here, the number of Awana nights we have left until she's probably here, etc. etc. He wakes up every morning and one of the first things he says to me is, "Guess what?!?! ...only __ more days!!!" :-) The countdown is making the time seem to fly by!
I'm excited too! I just can't wait to meet my daughter!! (It's really weird to hear myself say that - "my daughter"...strange but wonderful!)
"Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is."

Day 222
Only 44 days to go!!! It's getting so close!
I'm getting so excited to meet my little Miss Chloe Elaine! :) I can't believe I only have just over 6 weeks left to wait! (Assuming she doesn't come early...or late...) She is getting so huge, too! On Sept. 9 we had a doctors appointment. She weighed 4 lbs 4 oz already! Her total length is undetermined, but our doctor said everything was looking "big." And apparently Chloe is already "measuring a week ahead." WOW! Now, granted, the last two months the baby will change a lot and everything will be altered from week to week...but I'm cool with her coming a week early if she wants! :) I started out hoping for an early November birth...just a couple days late. But now I'm getting so impatient; I just want her here! Her head circumference is already 12 inches around and her belly is 11 inches around!! But the doctor says she's in the 56th percentile, which is great!
Chloe continues to move around constantly! Poor thing is definitely running out of room though. Every time I eat anything I get sick because she gets more energy from it and starts rolling all around and making me nauseated. =/ Kind of stinks. But it is SUPER cool to watch my entire stomach rolling and jutting out with her movements! As uncomfortable as it is sometimes, I know I will miss it when it's gone.
I have some awesome new sonogram pictures to share!
Chloe definitely has her daddy's lips! Look how big and beautiful they are!! The doctor let us sit and watch her sucking on her tongue for about 5 minutes...it was so cute!

My favorite full-frontal view of her face!! Tilt your head to the right again... Her hands have finally moved and you can clearly see her forehead, eyes, nose, and pouty lips. :) Her nose was getting a little squished by the ultrasound tool. But I love the little scowl mark just above her nose. Do you think she's getting tired of us looking at her?!

So aside from the fact that it's getting more and more uncomfortable to be in any position thanks to the constant pain in one hip, and the fact that I have a lot of trouble getting full breaths of air since my lungs are so compressed, and I'm getting more and more nauseous all the time, I'm not having that hard of a time at this point of my pregnancy. ;) It's really not that bad, but I'm getting very impatient for Chloe to get out and be here with us!
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love..."

Day 180
Only 80 days to go!!!!
Well, Chloe is doing wonderfully! She continues to move constantly, keeping me entertained by her nudges and somersaults. My alarm is set for 10 minutes from now (7:30) but since she woke me up with all her movement at 6, I'm sitting in bed, ready for the day to start. :)
Chloe is now about 14 inches long and weighs just over 2lbs. We went to the doctor about 3 weeks ago and were told that Chloe is now "viable"...meaning her lungs are developed enough that she could survive (with tons of medical care) outside of the womb. That brings some relief, actually!
So, I've discovered that I can NOT let myself get dehydrated. About 2-3 weeks ago I got dehydrated and ended up calling the doctor (a little freaked out) because I started have really hard cramps every 10-15 minutes. She told me to lay down and relax and drink lots of water and it should go away...it did. And it hasn't happened since. But it was a very unpleasant experience! David and I are going to Six Flags Fiesta Texas today with my mom and sisters...I have to remember to drink plenty of water!!
According to my pregnancy journal, Chloe's eyes should be about done forming and the eyelids are beginning to unfuse. :) I'm so excited to see her beautiful eyes for the first time!! I wonder what color they will be?!?! I'm so curious as to what she will look like! I just can't wait for her to get here! Only 12 more weeks!!!
I have done quite a bit of baby registering the past couple of weeks. I guess I'm not done yet but I've been told I need to post my registries on here so all of you lovely people can take a look. Well, I'm registered at several places: Target, Walmart, Babies-R-Us, Kohls... But I found a website that allows me to place EVERYTHING I register from ALL the stores at one place so you can see it all without having to look a million different places. The website is:
http://www.myregistry.com/visitors/giftlist.aspx?sid=19d854e9-1b6f-41c9-8c29-711e332418aa
Or just go to myregistry.com and search for "Becca Schultz". :)
Yesterday I went to the Seton lab here in Kyle and got blood drawn to test for gestational diabetes (which I'm pretty sure I don't have). I had to drink a little bottle of very sugary water. It wasn't that bad, really. It tasted like flat sprite, but a little sweeter. Unfortunately I wasn't very bright and I drank the stuff at 12:45pm. I had to wait an hour before coming back to get blood drawn and I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything in between times. I hadn't eaten lunch yet so it made me a little sick to my stomach. But a delicious Chick-fil-a sandwich after the blood-drawing made everything all better! :) I'm not sure why they had to take so much blood, though. I'm pretty sure a little prick of my finger would have supplied enough blood to test my blood glucose levels. But they had to take THREE VILES!!! My stomach was so wobbly that I couldn't watch them draw it all this time...
My next doctor's appointment is tomorrow and then we have a sonogram Friday morning. At our last sonogram (at 20 weeks) the doctor said that the baby's placenta was a little too low, too close to my cervix. He said this was "fairly common" in pregnancies at that stage and that the placenta should move upwards as my pregnancy progressed. That's what they are checking for on Friday. If it doesn't move up, and it stays too close to the cervix, a C-section may be required to avoid tons of bleeding during birth. I'm sure it will move up...I'd really prefer not to have a C-section.

Day 152
Only about 114 days to go!!!
Well, I'm 21 today. I am absolutely amazed with God today! (Not that He's not amazing ALL the time...but it's really hitting home today in particular!) He is so GOOD!! This year has been particularly incredible! Tomorrow is mine and David's first anniversary! I'm more than half way through with this pregnancy, and I still can't hardly believe it! I stand completely in awe at my Creator's love and grace toward creatures as sinful as I! I definitely didn't do one single thing to deserve the blessings I have in my life. I have the most wonderful husband, and a beautiful little girl on the way!! "My cup runneth over!"
Chloe weighs just under a pound and a half by now! She's almost a foot long as well! She moves CONSTANTLY! This past week, I've woken up 6 days right around 6am. At first I just assumed it was probably Chloe's movements waking me up, though I wasn't consciously aware of them. But yesterday, at precisely 6:08am, I woke up and felt her performing cartwheels in my belly! This morning was the same, although she let me sleep until about 6:45am. Her movements are so forceful now! When she really gets going, I can lay on my back and actually SEE my stomach moving! I tucked my hands up under my stomach as much as I could 2 days ago while she was fluttering around, and it felt like I was actually holding her in my hands. She's so tiny!
I've discovered that, as much as I still love sweets, I can't eat as much at one time without getting sick. Chloe moves around so much, it shakes everything up and makes me feel nauseated. This happens sometimes with other foods as well, but mostly with sweets. I think my stomach has officially shrunk now. (Either that or it's been crammed up toward my chest so much that it fills up a LOT faster!) I can't eat NEARLY as much as I used to! All of this I see as a perk, keeping me from gaining TONS of weight right now. :)
So, for our anniversary David got us a new bed! :D The old one was getting too uncomfortable to sleep on. He also got me a body pillow specifically for pregnant bodies! That thing is AWESOME! Haha. I move around all night constantly trying to stay comfortable. But the new bed and pillows certainly help a LOT!
My mom and sisters finally got to feel Chloe moving this week. Well, all except Hanna. Chloe must have decided she was tired of showing off by the time it was Hanna's turn to feel her. Haha. Poor Hanna! Kassi made me the most thoughtful gift for my birthday! She decided to work on a baby album for Chloe - completely hand-made! She decorated the book itself and is making pages for all the events she can think of for Chloe's first year or so. She also showed off her photography skills and took a great picture of me holding my belly for the book as well. :) So sweet!
I have begun to notice that it is VERY uncomfortable to sit up straight for any long period of time. It feels better to recline just slightly, otherwise I feel like my stomach is being pinched along with everything inside. Makes me uncomfortable and sick. :( Abbey got into my car the other day and was surprised when she ended up practically laying down in the passenger seat. Haha! But that's just really the only comfortable way for me to ride anymore.
I have another Dr's appointment on the 15th and then a couple more at the beginning of August. I can't believe we're getting so close!! Only another 3 1/2 months!!!!!

Sonogram #3 - June 10, 2010
We found out Chloe was a girl on this day!
Here is a really cute shot of her lips and nose (like looking up her nose from down near her feet).
Here is a full, frontal view of Chloe's face and chest. Beautiful!
In this shot, Chloe is laying on her side, her body is at the right side of the picture. You can see the bones of her arm: with shoulder, elbow (bent), wrist, and hand.
Here is the bottom of her little right foot...
Here is a great picture of her little spine. Her body is to the left, her head to the right. You can see her neck bent quite a bit here.
Here is her profile. The more definite form is her skull, while the shadow-like outline is her skin. You can see her ear, forehead, nose, cheekbone, jaw, chin, and an eye socket. What a cute little nose! I can't wait to meet you, Little One!
This video is pretty awesome! It's shot from above the body, kind of looking through Chloe's head. You can see her four-chambered heart pumping in her torso in the center of the screen. She's kicking and moving her arms a lot in this video - just can't seem to get comfy!

Sonogram #2 - April 22, 2010
Here is Chloe around 13 weeks. She had already grown about an inch since the last sonogram. She was so active that day, the doctor had to take some extra time to get all of his measurements that he needed. They were checking for any chromosomal abnormalities on this day. Everything came back negative! Thank you Lord!

You can actually see her little brain in this shot!

See how she's slid down the little "hill" since the first picture? She just couldn't seem to get comfortable that day!

Sonogram #1 - April 14, 2010
Day 130
As can be expected, a LOT has happened since my last post. David and I went to Texas Perinatal Group in Austin for a sonogram on Thursday, June 10. We found out we are having a little GIRL!!! We are so excited! Of course since we got pregnant David has been saying he wants a little boy, but when we found out she was a girl, David was so thrilled! Something about the prospect of having a little girl made his Daddy-heart swell. He's already bragging about how beautiful she's going to be and how he's going to have to "beat the boys off of her with a stick!" His excitement is adorable!
Her name is going to be Chloe Elaine. I can't wait to meet my beautiful daughter!!
The nurse during the sonogram told us that she measures about 10 inches (head to feet) and weighs about 11 oz. I asked her about the due date, wondering if her measurements were still close to the Oct. 29th due date we already had, or if we were going to have to change it again. The nurse said, "not only she she about right for that due date, she is perfectly measuring up to that date. She's a little perfectionist!" Haha...wonder where she gets that from?! The doctor also commented, again, on how active she is. So world, prepare yourself for a beautiful, active, perfectionist, little girl!!!
Chloe has been moving so much! I felt her first on May 25th. But the kicks and movements weren't strong enough to feel from outside. But by June 8th and 9th, everyone could feel her! At first I had to lay really still on my back and really concentrate to be able to feel her, but it's getting easier and easier. A few nights ago, I was laying in bed and I could feel her whole body moving around! It wasn't just a little kick or punch, her entire little body was rolling around in there! For about 45 minutes! It was so precious!!
A lot of research says that babies can begin to hear voices and noises from outside the womb by now. I'm not very good at it yet, but sometimes I talk and sing and read to her. It's actually really amazing, to be able to read out loud and know that your child can hear your voice and is getting accustomed to it.
My belly has grown 3-3.5 inches since getting pregnant. I'm actually starting to show finally! Not just to myself, but other people notice, also! YAY! Did you know that Chloe is actually already growing hair on her head?! :)
I've gotten 3 separate sonograms done so far. It's amazing how much she's grown!! I'll make a separate post for the pictures...
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

Day 41
For everyone who has been waiting for another post: sorry it has taken so long! Since spring break I have been experiencing some pretty yucky cases of morning sickness. I'm not sure who came up with that name since, for me, it lasts pretty much all day, every day! Yesterday and today have been better, as long as I go outside frequently and have interaction with other people and keep myself busy. Distraction helps. But with school I have unfortunately had to spend quite a bit of time quietly sitting alone, studying, mostly inside...it hasn't been fun at all!
An update on the baby's development:
The baby is now about 1/2" long! It's beginning to straighten out of its "C" shape. The arms and legs have lengthened out and both have plates on the ends where the fingers and toes will develop. The eyes are pigmented (so they would look black on an ultrasound) and there are little growths were the external ears will soon be. The windpipe and voicebox are developing and the teeth are already starting to grow beneath the baby's gums. He or she is beginning to develop an upper lip, too! The intestines are forming and the liver has grown to fill most of its body right now, leaving little room for anything else. Did you know that you develop 3 kidneys?! The first one the fetus develops is basically worthless...I plan on doing a little research into why you develop 3 if, in the end, only 2 remain. I did find out the other day that my great-grandma and one of my great-aunts both have 3 kidneys! I'm not sure if they all 3 function normally but, it was interesting to find that out. I'd never heard of that before.
David and I have finally figured out our insurance. It's brand new with his new job at the fire dept. so we've had to wait for everything to get entered into their system. But it looks like our hospital is covered and we will be scheduling our first appointment within the next week or so! I've read that the first sonogram can be done around 8 weeks (I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow...) to determine the number of babies in the womb. (Not that I'm expecting more than one! ;-P But wouldn't that be a blessing?!?!)
Everyone keeps asking me about cravings... No, I have not had any weird food cravings and NO, I haven't kicked David out of bed at 3 in the morning, sending him to go get me pickles and ice cream! haha. I'm pretty sure the all-day sickness will have to pass completely before I have any cravings. Nothing sounds good right now!

Day 28
Finding out you're going to be a Mommy is so exciting! Terrifying....but exciting! I'm due November 3, 2010. I'm just praying for a whole, healthy baby! As the oldest of 4 girls I always wished I'd had a big brother, so it would be fun to have a boy first...but I really couldn't care less either way.
I know so very little about having a baby! I'll be reading TONS of books all the time, I'm sure. I bought this "Pregnancy Journal" the day after I found out we were expecting. It gives a day-by-day update on what the baby's doing and what the mommy's body is doing, good things to eat/avoid eating, good things to do/not do.
We've told most of our family already. Everyone seems just about as excited as we are. :) One of the more exciting aspects of this pregnancy is, along with this baby being our first child, it will be the first grandchild to our parents, the first great-grandchild to our grandparents, and the first great-great-grandchild to our great-grandparents! (Can we say "SPOILED"?!?! haha) I'm just so happy that this child is going to be blessed with so many people who love him/her!!
Today is approximately day 28 of my baby's development. It's between 3 and 5 mm long (could sit on the eraser end of a pencil). The neural tube (eventually the spinal cord) has been growing rapidly. The liver has already formed; the pancreas, gall bladder, lungs, stomach, aorta (largest artery in the body) and intestines are all beginning to form as well. The baby has tiny little buds for arms and legs. It has little divits on the sides of its head where the ears and eyes will start developing soon. Development of the baby's facial features has begun as well! Can you believe my baby's heart has already begun to beat?!
It's strange knowing there is a whole new life growing inside of you, depending on you for survival! Makes you really want to do everything right: eat right, exercise appropriately, sleep well, etc, etc.
We have names picked out already. If it's a boy we're going to name him Frank Benjamin. "Frank" is the first name of the baby's daddy, grandpa, great-grandpa, and great-great-grandpa! So naturally we have to keep that going! If it's a little girl we're going to name her Chloe Elaine. Such a beautiful name! :)
